11th October 2010 Windsurfing: Ynyslas Estuary Wind Direction: NE Wind Stength: 25-30 knots Surf / Sea State: Flat - Choppy Air Temperature: 15ºC Sea Temperature: 15ºC Weather: Sunny Max Speed: 37.1 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 20.6 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise) Another gorgeous day in paradise with Ivor doing his thing. No wind elsewhere, but it was honking in the estuary. 30-35 knots for while but I waited for the tide to drop and the sandbanks to show before going in, by which time it had settled down nicely to a solid 25-30 knots NE. Well powered with my 5.2m North Warp and Fanatic Falcon Speed board, although once on a proper speed run I wanted more power! Nice smooth water close to the sandbank, but choppy off the end of it where there seemed to be more wind. GPS showed a top speed of 42.8mph (37.1 knots) but once I uploaded it to SportsTrack live that was downgraded to 35.79 knots for some reason. I'll stick with 37.1 as that single run did feel faster than the others and I did quite a few quite runs up around 34-35 knots! |
